Custom Visitor Map August 31, 2006
Posted by vinnyt in : General , add a commentSo I’ve created what I think is a pretty cool use of the google maps. You can click here to see it. What it does is record each visit to my site then at random intervals I lookup on www.hostip.info the latitude and longitude associated with that IP address. I’m in process of finding a different source of data seeing at this one is only slightly accurate approximately 50% of the time by their own estimates. When the page loads I grab a list of Latitudes and Longitudes and then look up the IP addresses that are associated with said latitude and longitude and I then put that in a list with the number of visits and the last visit recorded for that IP address. I then build the list and boom show it when you pull up the page.

Why are manhole covers round? What if you get that in a job interview? August 23, 2006
Posted by vinnyt in : General , add a comment“The question of why manhole covers are typically round, at least in the U.S., was made notorious by Microsoft, who began asking it as a job-interview question. Originally meant as a psychological assessment of how one approaches a question with more than one “right” answer, the problem exerts a strange fascination on people.”
I’m in a position where I interview people and as such I ask this question for the exact same reason microsoft does. I’ve been surprised at how many people will stammer around when posed this question and never really spit out an answer. I typically don’t hire these people. I have to say though I learned the answer to this question when I was just a child from watching an episode of “Mr. Wizard” when I was a child.
Yamaha V-Star August 22, 2006
Posted by vinnyt in : General , add a commentI’ve recently purchased a Yahama V-star, but after riding in Sturgis this year, and seeing the new Harley bikes I think I’m going to upgrade to a Vrod. Has anyone owned one of these machines and do they have any insight they can lay on me before I purchase this bad boy?

Posted by vinnyt in : Sturgis 2006 , add a commentSo another year has come and gone and I find myself in the midst or preparations for my journey North. Last year was my rookie year at the Ralley, and so frankly I was like a deer in headlights for the most part. This year will be awsome to say the very least.
