2005 a look back December 31, 2005

This was a good year for me. I had many accomplishments both personally and professionally. In my personal life, I made some new friends, and lost some old friends. I’ve started a multi year project to renovate my house so that it will begin to look more and more like my own. I’d like to be finished by this coming summer and more than likely that will be the case. I also got my eyes operated on so that I can now see right at 20/15, ending 15 years of wearing glasses and contacts. Being able to see perfectly honestly has been probably my most life altering experience. 2005 was the year my good friend Dr. Vilain completed his Ph.D. and the his moving to California. I have as of late come to the conclusion it is time to start focusing more on growing as a person so that I can have a stable and complete life. Professionally, 2005 was a banner year. I’ve made great strides in my depth of knowledge in many area of the computer industry especially in the area of hardware communications, and the final completion of my GPS project. I anticipate that in 2006 I will probably find some practical application for this technology, especially in regards to real-time tracking. All in all it was a great year and I look forward to 2006 being even better.

I’ve been out of commission now for roughly 2 weeks. I’ve had a rather rough project at work that has required me to put in quite a few hours. As a result I’ve lost contact with my friends and family, and so now that things have settled down a little bit I’m back in the swing of things. I have some plans for up coming articles that should make this a lot more popular. My goal is get on the front page of digg. We’ll have to see.

Well, this photo and post will probably be the last on the subject until I have completely recovered. This picture is actually showing my eye during the surgery process. For those of you who have had laser eye surgery specifically PRK this will probably be of no use to you, but for those of you considering getting Lasik or PRK I’ll give you my $0.02.
First I highly recommend Discover vision, specifically John Doanne as a surgeon. He has a very experienced with this procedure, and with something as delicate and important as your eyes experience, and success is probably the most crucial element when deciding on a surgeon. The experience of the surgery itself was surprisingly pleasant, I was sedated with valium, but I tend to be pretty relaxed most of the time anyway so it was no big deal. The only issue I have had thus far was the few days following the procedure. The pain was quite intense, and the only solution I could find for this was a prescription to tylenol with Codine. With these narcotics I was able to sleep for about 3 days solid at the end of which I was able to open my eyes and see well enough to function in society with very little pain. Now several weeks after the fact this I feel great and can see really well. My recomendation to people “Do It!”
