Beyond Occam, testing the limits of what is necessary August 31, 2005

This is a test of the bigpork blogcasting system, if there had been an actual subreal thought, you’d now be told where to tune in your local blogcast area for specific instructions on how to configure your wetware to accommodate this subreal thought. This, however, is only a test.

So like I said I created this email blog post automation tool, and well I found out somebody already created basically the same thing in PHP. A while back. I’ve decided I’m going to stick with what I’ve created because I’ve invested a lot of time in it, and it works well so right now there is no point in changing it. I’m going to have to add more features to make it a little more robust obviously, but that’s something down the road that I’ll do. Any way this message is to test if my categories that have spaces in them work when I post. So do they!?

So I drink a wee bit of the coffee myself. It is news like this that makes me happy http://www.physorg.com/news6067.html. So I guess I’ll have to start having 2 cups instead of that one cup a day habit I’m in the middle of right now. Yeah right…

Wordpress extension August 23, 2005

So I’ve created this script that integrates with wordpress. I have a project going that uses Easy Moblog. The cool feature of Easy Moblog is that you can post from an email account. Basically in the administration you give it a list of email address that are allowed, and then any emails received from that address are posted to your blog. I’ve created a perl script that does the exact same thing but for wordpress. It has a list of known email addresses, then periodically checks an account and then posts that to your blog. I’ve included features for posting images and everything, my next task will be to extend this to take emails from a cell phone and post those as well. The image below was attached to this message and posted.

This is basically a thing for me to have some fun with so I’ll see what kind of mileage I get with it, and hopefully I’ll eventually make it freely available and give it to the opensource community.

We lost August 22, 2005

Well, after a great first season we finished with a record of 20-7, and unfortunately we lost the championship game.

I have been playing base ball now for about 3 years in the KCMSBL. I started playing 3 years ago. My first year I played short stop for a team called the Rangers we where a decent team and got to the playoffs but died in the first round. Last year I played for a rather horrible team, that was ran by a rather stupid individual, who was just out right too dumb to be anywhere near a ball diamond, as a result we went 0-16 and really didn’t do squat. So this season I decided to put all the crap aside and form a team of my own. Initially, I started with a guy who at that time was a friend, but quickly our relationship soured when he did not want to relinquish control to an outside non-playing manager who I had brought in to keep an unbiased approach to the whole thing. So we started practicing in roughly February as soon as the snow melted, and we practiced until the season started in the end of April. Early on the team was playing with their heads wedged and as a result we lost 7 straight games. At the 6th games we by chance recruited an old college player who is one of the most humble men I’ve ever met, and he brought an entirely new approach to the game, and changed the entire attitude of the team. The last game that we lost was like a completely different team was on the field it was amazing, but we lost by 1 point. From that game on we did not lose a single game and ended up in second place for the season, it was one of the most amazing turn arounds I’ve ever been a part of. We are now past the play offs which we basically ripped through the 2 teams that we played and now tonight begins the championship series. We are playing not only for pride but free league fees next year. The team we are facing is 24-1, so they are going to be tough, but they lack pitching which is one of the areas where we dominate so this will be a most interesting match up.

trip to stugis August 15, 2005

So I have taken up motorcycle riding as a hobby. Since owning a bike I’ve been invited to go on a trip to the world famous bike Rally in Sturgis South Dakota. I made it up and back in one piece the only battle scar I incurred was

I got this when I got on my cousins motorcycle and unfortunately I didn’t know where the pipe was and I ran my leg across it. I’m knocking on wood hoping that this is the worst that I’ll encounter. This is my uncle he is retired boiler maker, and a good guy he drives a triumph motorcycle which he constantly cries about being “Too Big”

This is my cousin, he drives a Big Dog bike and can fix literally anything in the world.

Here’s a better picture of my bike. I’ve added a windshield which has made a big difference in my riding experience.

So on one of our drives we came across this lake up in the mountains. I was built as flood control system for the spring melt that happens each year. According to the park ranger at the visitor center this lake was down about 30′ from previous levels and it looked like with the diminishing snow levels each year that it will continue to go lower.

This is a picture of the Crazy Horse carving this is being done entirely with private funding and is frankly as a result moving at the pace of a snail crawling up a salt covered wall. I visited this for the first time in approximately 1982 with my parents and if my memory serves me correctly they’ve only completed Crazy Horse’s face since then.

This is what the monument will look like when it is completed.

On one of our drives we went to Custer state park and this was some of the scenery we encountered, this was a hole that was carved so that you could drive through.

I’m a fan of the show American chopper, and here is one of the bikes I watched them build.

Back into the state park we ecountered some Bison

This is another very cool view that I found while driving around in Custer state park. You drive up the mountain road, and then boom you get this view of mount Rushmore which is very awe inspiring.

Just as a side note the entire of mount rushmore would fit on the side of Crazy Horse’s head.

This was in the Iron Mountain road just on the edge of Custer state park a very impressive view of the mountain and the power of erosion

This is a picture of an open mine we encountered while up in the mountains, I used some cool software that came with my camera to piece this image together. I have to say it was very impressive to see this.

The Sturgis experience is something that I would recommend every person do at least once in there life. I think that potentially it has a bad reputation from years past, but honestly it was probably one of the best crowds I’ve ever been a part of. The police in this tiny town are extremely proactive and because of this there are few fights and no crime to speak of. Also, from what I could tell there was just about every type of bike that one can imagine, now granted the majority of the bikes there where Harley’s. There was just about everything and some you don’t even know about running around on the streets. I have to say I think the whole biker mentality is quite misunderstood. From my riding I don’t think there is any other experience like riding a bike, you get to experience the sounds, the smells and the sights of the world around you in a totally unique fashion that is no duplicated in any other type of vehicle. I plan on going back next year, and probably until I get tired of my bike or can’t ride any more.

So now the trick is what to do with all this fun stuff…

The internet phone service, provided by different telecommunication sectors is very feasible for the customers who may use the ordinary phone for broadband phone calls in the very cheapest rates. There is a need of a complete set for voice mail, voip phone adapter and caller ID to have direct accessibility to the broadband internet voip. The most leading company of broadband phone services is known as vonage. The wireless phone connection is very suitable with the different phone plans and services to ensure the quality of services by providing all necessary answer via voip faq.
